Kwanzaa Day at Amazing Spiral Comics

The holiday season is upon us. One of the often overlooked, but important, holidays is Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is a holiday specifically geared toward people of African heritage in America, yet so many know little about this 7-day celebration of African culture.

Focused On Fatherhood invites you to join us at our 'Kwanzaa Day Learn & Play' event at Amazing Spiral, between 12 and 3pm on Saturday, December 10th. Amazing Spiral is gem in our city that is too often overlooked itself, so this is a perfect marriage and opportunity to not only learn more about Kwanzaa, but also to enjoy all that Amazing Spiral has to offer by way of comics and more.

Author/illustrator V. Kuroji Patrick will host our event, as he gives us a history lesson on the celebration that is Kwanzaa -when it started and why- and how we can celebrate this year and beyond. He will present his animated film on Kwanzaa, featuring Patches and friends, and read from and sign some of the books that he has illustrated.

In addition to this, children attending the event will be able to participate in activities such as coloring, bead making, and picture frame decorating. Lance McCoy, owner of B-Live photography will be taking family photos which he will offer for sale, and which will be able to fit in the frames the young ones make. And children will be able to enjoy a special treat brought to us by Cameran's Treats.
